Nietemin moet melding gemaak word van enkele historiese hoogtepunte in hierdie inleidende bladsye gemaak word. Waar 'n helder waterstroom uit twee fonteine uit bosryke vallei gevloei het, het een van die eerste pioniers wat die lang en gevaarlike trek vanuit die Kaap na die binneland onderneem het sy eenvoudige huisie gebou. Lucas Bronkhorst was 'n afstammeling van die eerste blywende Blanke nedersetters wat onder leiding van die Nederlander Jan van Riebeeck in 1652 na die Kaap de Goede Hoop gekom het om 'n verversingspos en voorradedepot te stig vir die lang seeroete van Europa na die Ooste.
