Wanneer wij door deze studie de aandacht van theologisch Nederland pogen te vestigen op den W�urttembergschen pi�etist Johann Albrecht Bengel, dan wil het ons voorkomen, dat het niet overbodig is, daaraan een korte rechtvaardiging te doen voorafgaan. Immers de vraag komt terstond op, of de persoon van Bengel belangrijk genoeg is om hem in Nederland te introduceeren. Allereerst is in het algemeen het gevaar niet denkbeeldig dat men, gegrepen door een zekere figuur, zijn "held" in al te groote proporties ziet. ... Zie: Inleiding.
