The aim of this study is to investigate the relevance of Gattungforschung to the determining of meaning . This is achieved by closer view mainly of the New Testament macarism as Gattung by regarding it's function in the series of Matt. 5:3-10 in relation to the symantic analysis of the pericope concerned.
