The Greek text is the first part of the third edition of the British and Foreign Bible Society's Greek Testament and was prepared by G.D. Kilpatrick. This edition was never produced as a complete New Testament. The preliminary draft of the English translation was made from the Greek by a group of missionary linguists led by Wilfred J. Bradnock and George D. Reynolds, and revised in consultation with New Testament scholars. Explanatory footnotes and a glossary were added for the guidance of translators. The diglot was designed for use by translators with only a limited knowledge of Greek and whose mother tongue was not English. The older English translations and the more idiomatic modern versions were inadequate in a non-English cultural setting. At head of title: (For private circulation only).
