The Greek text is part of the third edition of the British and Foreign Bible Society's Greek Testament and was prepared by G.D. Kilpatrick. This edition was never produced as a complete New Testament. The preliminary draft of the English translation was made from the Greek by a group of missionary linguists led by Wilfred J. Bradnock, George D. Reynolds and H.K. Moulton, and revised in consultation with New Testament scholars. Explanatory footnotes and a glossary were added for the guidance of translators. The diglot was designed for use by translators with only a limited knowledge of Greek and whose mother tongue was not English. The older English translations and the more idiomatic modern versions were inadequate in a non-English cultural setting.
